Biography

Mary Votava began her love affair with the performing arts in her early youth - creating, directing, and starring in theatrical interpretations of such literary works as The Billy Goats' Gruff, and borrowing friends' parents' camcorders to make films and musicals for every possible school project where format was left unspecified. In her teens, Mary began studying classical singing. She performed roles with the Seattle Opera, then went on to receive her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, with Honors, from Oberlin Conservatory. Post college, Mary moved back to Seattle and performed leading roles in numerous local musical theater and opera productions, before coming to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. Mary has played dozens of parts in short or feature-length films (some of which actually made it into IMDB), but is most remembered for her role as "Monkey Woman" on SyFy's Who Wants to be a Superhero? starring comic book legend Stan Lee. In her free time, Mary enjoys playing Australian rules football, geocaching, riding her motorcycle, and learning new skills (ice skating being the latest).
